In her account of the Academia’s beginnings, Annarella Sánchez describes her higher education in Cuba and her experience dancing with ballet companies and on stages in different countries.
She arrived in Leiria in 1996. Meeting children interested in dance preceded the creation of the Academia. Artist Gabriel Gutiérrez designed its logo, depicting a ballerina in arabesque.
The school’s historical account emphasizes learning movement, understanding music and ballets, building confidence and taking part in performances. Its closing ideas are learning, dancing, understanding, achieving, discovering and dreaming.
